Education

Registered in the year 2003, Himala Samajik Sanstha envisions improving the quality of education offered in the rural areas of Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, India. As per the charter of our organization, providing education to underprivileged children is of utmost importance and this education should be complete which includes academic education along with other activities.

Activities

Himala Public School

Our charity organization running this project is Himala Samajik Sanstha, which provides education to children in Fatgali village. Himala Public School is recognized by the Basic Education Council of Uttarakhand Government. This school is a teaching institution where a principal teaches 200 children on subjects like science and environment, art and culture, yoga and computer studies. A large number of students have been selected for Navodaya Vidyalaya, which shows that the school has always been performing well in the academic stream.

Special Programs and Events

The school holds many occasions in which children are introduced to social norms and etiquette. To ensure that students are environmentally conscious, the school curriculum includes tree plantation, water conservation and river conservation campaigns, etc

Free Coaching for Competitive Exams

The main social service being provided by Himala Samajik Sanstha is to provide free preparation classes to children from poor families, which helps them prepare for competitive exams. This initiative helps economically deprived learners to increase their chances of getting education.

Outcomes

This program had a remarkable impact on the community in the field of study conservation, as it is provided by Himala Samajik Sanstha. The institution’s school has raised academic standards and equipped successful learners within society. In this regard, by engaging needy children with environmental-consciousness programs and skill-enhancing courses, they help uplift poor children and enable them to become responsible citizens in society.

HEALTH

Our organization Himala Samajik Sanstha has also been working to solve health problems in Bageshwar district since our formation in the year 2003. The program aims to sensitize people, project people and villagers on various health issues, provide training and run campaigns for the development of the health status of people living in rural areas. Our initiatives cover almost all aspects of health and the areas of concern include fighting against AIDS as well as tuberculosis and promoting hygiene

Activities

Activities AIDS Awareness Campaign

We have conducted AIDS awareness programmes in more than one Gram Panchayat with the financial support of Uttarakhand State AIDS Control Committee. Our belief behind such campaigns is to make the rural population aware about the prevention, testing and treatment of AIDS.

Tuberculosis Eradication

Himala Samajik Sanstha runs tuberculosis eradication awareness campaigns in Bageshwar district in collaboration with Mamta Samajik Sanstha Dehradun. It is a compassionate program aimed at identifying and helping people suffering from tuberculosis and providing vital information about the disease.

Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan

This Awareness programs have been launched in Bageshwar district by Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan Sangathan. These programs focus on sanitation and disease prevention in the areas, which will reduce health complications among people in the rural areas.

Drug De-addiction Campaigns

This campaign executes various awareness programs launched to fight drug addiction. We help inform people about the dangers of drug use and help them overcome addiction.

Environmental activities include water conservation, forest conservation and proper management of waste, which are adopted by Himala Samajik Sanstha. We also work to spread awareness and practice on ways to preserve natural resources.

Activities

Plantation and Water Conservation

Our organization is highly involved in tree plantation activities which include planting of trees and campaigns related to conservation of water resources. Such efforts like the “Save River Campaign” which was formulated to protect rivers and other water sources in the country.

Environmental awareness campaigns

Himala Samajik Sanstha, an NGO, has the support of the Ministry of Environment, Government of India: it runs major environmental awareness campaigns. Such campaigns make people aware about climate change, or balance of species and the importance of forests.

Forest Fire Prevention

Our organization collaborates with the Uttarakhand Forest Department and runs public awareness programs to reduce forest fires, emphasizing the contribution of forests to the survival of the population.

Climate Change Education

Our organization creates awareness in the form of seminars and other related gatherings to ensure that the community is informed about the effects of climate change and the possible measures that can be taken to negate them.

Outcomes

     The results are reduction in the level of deforestation, improved water quality and reduced rate of soil erosion.

SOCIAL AWARENESS

Himala Samajik Sanstha is committed to raising social awareness on crucial issues such as environmental conservation, public health, cultural preservation, and social unity. Operating primarily in Bageshwar district, Uttarakhand, the organization engages communities through various initiatives aimed at fostering a well-informed and cohesive society.

Activities

Environmental Conservation Campaigns

Forest Ministry Government of India and Himala Samajik Sanstha both are conduct awareness campaigns on climate change, biodiversity and importance of forests. We promote the culture of sustainability in the use of natural resources and sustainable living practices.

Water Conservation Initiatives

Our organization launched water conservation campaigns in association with Kapkot Seva Samiti and NABARD.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

Under this scheme of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao supported by Himala Samajik Sanstha, we go to all the village societies and spread awareness.

Cultural Preservation

Projects presented by Maithili speaking society of Uttarakhand, we also focus on the presentation of folk culture and mythology. With the help of the Culture Department of Uttarakhand, our organization is making a documentary “Humare Tyaar Vyaar” to publicize representatives of cultural tourism interest.

Voter Awareness Campaign

Under the voter awareness campaign of the organization, several activities were implemented in Bageshwar district. These efforts were aimed at enhancing citizenship and voter education to increase the voting tendency among the citizens.

Menstrual Hygiene for Women

The problem of hygiene involving women of reproductive age is a subject that is usually not discussed in most communities, and this is one of the areas that Himala Samajik Sanstha (HSS) seeks to address in Bageshwar District. This is a natural occurrence, but society and the community do portray it in a certain way, and the unavailability of sanitary products makes it difficult.

Swachh Bharat Mission

Under Swachh Bharat Mission, we support awareness programmes run by Swajal Project Uttarakhand in all three development blocks of Bageshwar district. In this activity we focus on hygiene and ways to avoid disease.

Solid and Liquid Waste Management

With the support of Swajal Project, our organization has established and implemented solid and liquid waste management plan in 60 Gram Panchayats in Garun Vikas Khand. This initiative is a strategy to enhance the quality of waste management and disposal and reduce the health risks arising from poor waste management.

Drinking Water Quality Monitoring

Under the Swajal Project, Himala Samajik Sanstha provides training to panchayat representatives and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers of all gram panchayats of Bageshwar district. The aim of the training is to assess and promote drinking water quality, a key factor in combating diseases linked to water decentralisation.
